KINDRED SPIRITS II
KINDRED SPIRITS II
This work was the sketch that preceded Kindred Spirits and, as I completed the larger work, I was convinced that this, too, had merit and appeal as a finished sculpture. Initial sketching took place in Loveland, Colorado, during the Sculp¬ture Invitational show in 1997. The idea for a two-eagle bust was suggested by one of the patrons seeking a specific work for her parents' 50th anniversary. She was attracted to another of my sculptures, Emblem, and knowing these birds mate for life, she was looking for a specific expression involving two eagles. Before she could leave the vicinity I had the rudimentary sketch in position. It has been changed very little except for detailing.
